There is a lot of jargon to describe this practice, but, basically, it boils down to this: there are a number of approaches we can take to convey our messages. The better we understand words and the mindsets of others, we can more effectively relate to that person and develop a rapport.

NLP allows practitioners to better gauge the audience based on neurological tendencies and presuppositions about the demographic. From this information, we can then determine the best way to construct communication to augment understanding and persuasion. This methodology differs from traditional writing and marketing styles, because it is more sensitive to the subtleties of the communicative process.
